Amazon creates a drone called Ring Always Home
Drone
Amazon revealed a new innovation represented in a small drone that flies around the house and visualizes everything in order to protect it from thieves and other security reasons. The New York Times had reported in an article that the CEO of the company, Jeff Bezos, had promised in 2013 that drones would fly everywhere to deliver packages, as he did not imagine at the time that it would also be a plane that would fly through homes and record video.
The company has promoted the plane, which will bear the name Ring Always Home Cam, through a video showing a thief breaking into a house, and panicking when the plane flies directly towards him, while at the same time the homeowner watches the thief directly on his mobile phone.
Advantages and disadvantages of the Amazon plane
According to the company, the plane can be used to check whether the owner of the house has left the stove burning, or the window is open, and the plane will only record while flying, and it will emit a clear buzzing sound when photographing, but privacy still occupies most of the tweeters, one of whom mentioned that a drone camera Connected to the Internet to your home, belonging to the company Amazon, is definitely a privacy nightmare, while another described the aircraft, saying it is a frightening step in the future of technology.
Walt Mossberg, a technology product reviewer and member of the Board of Directors of the News Letterpress Project, tweeted that in a country with no laws regulating digital privacy, anyone buying this plane from a company with a history of privacy issues would be crazy.
Dave Limp, CEO of Amazon Devices, said the company has made significant investments in camera security, such as two-factor authentication and end-to-end encryption, and if Walt doesn't want to buy this drone, that's fine.
Limp added that the trend to produce the aircraft came due to technological progress and consumer interest in indoor surveillance cameras, and sensors have become good and cheap enough for an indoor drone to operate safely. The problem of not having adequate ports for cameras in every room prompted the company to invent the drone to fill the void.
Amazon plane price and availability
Its price is about $249, and it is among the other products that Amazon has also launched new Echo devices, a cloud gaming service called Luna, and other products.
The plane has not yet received an FCC license, and may not have it at all, and it won't be available next year, until permission is obtained.
